what i write:

mostly scattered traces that i begin, follow, and then lose…and to which i sometimes meanderingly return. lots of notes about what i’m reading, what i’m experiencing, what i’m observing, what’s bothering me, and what i’m trying to figure out. e-mails, messages, birthday cards, to-do lists, journal entries, and applications. sometimes stories. with more difficulty, i write academic texts about political theory, nonhumans, utopian communities, and storytelling. always stories.

why i write:

to find ‘consent and reconciliation with things as they really are’ (Arendt); to affirm life (Nietzsche); to ‘restore belief in this world’ (Deleuze); to ‘celebrate my pact with the Earth’ (Serres); to enchant, enroot, enmesh—the joy of sounded meaning wending reminding here is home; to think with others; to criticize; to get unstuck; to take my mind for a walk; to gather; to disclose; ‘sheer egoism’ (Orwell); ‘to let go’ (Arendt).
